Career- Currently I am a freelance writer based in New York City. My articles/writings focus on food, family, health, nutrition, education, and parenting. I am also working on the completion of my Ed. D at Teachers College, Columbia University. My dissertation research is on how early childhood education programs are borrowed and then locally adapted at the international level. My husband tells me I need to work on a 30 second version of my research, however I have yet to find a way to explain it easily. I am also a former teacher and taught in an elite Manhattan private school for 10 years.
Family – I am the mother to two young children (ages 4 and 20 months); and the wife to a wonderfully supportive and creative husband.
Purpose (of this blog)- My original intent was to offer recipes/advice/humor to those who are new to veganism, or who simply want to add some new ideas to their current way of eating. I want the site to be realistic and practical, without losing taste and integrity. I am all for the quick and easy – however I am also a foodie and believe that whatever you put on the table should be full of flavor.
However, this site has quickly morphed into much more than a simple posting of recipes and cooking methods (actually those seem to have taken a back seat for the moment, but I am on it!) Rants, ramblings, and musings have also found a home here, some of them related to food issues, but for the most part they are about bigger, or smaller, things in life. I promise to keep it all organized!
Hi!
I just came across your site while looking for some interesting tofu dishes and 30 minutes later I’m still perusing your site! You definately have something going here. So glad that I have a quirky site I can go to now for a delicious receipe as well as a laugh or a bit of inspiration.
Fellow Manhattanite,
Erin
Hi Erin,
It is always nice to meet another Manhattanite. Thank you for your comments! I am trying to get back into the habit of posting every week after a couple of crazy months…
